The synopsis: A 27 year old male takes a pill that transforms him into a 17 year old and is now again surrounded by high school girls. Sounds intriguing? Maybe not, maybe a little cliche. But ReLife has been a pleasant surprise. Based on a web comic, all the episodes were released in one go and it ended being one of the first shows we saw during the summer season. We love the school genre despite it being revisited again and again by various shows throughout the years and ReLife shows us that no matter a tired setting it’s all about execution at the end of the day.
Watch It If… You love school dramas.
Boku no Hero Academia
Not much more to say that we hadn’t already. One of our favorite shows of the year albeit generic we admit. By the way Boku no Hero second season has been confirmed for Spring of 2017 so look forward to that.
Watch It If… Can’t get enough shounen, Want more hero based shows like One Punch Man.
Mob Psycho 100
From the creator of One Punch Man, Mob Psycho stands out for having the most eccentric visual style out of all the shows we saw this year. If you couldn’t already tell we’re a sucker for visually appealing shows and Mob Psycho makes other shows look seemingly generic and unimaginative when it comes to character and design. Like Flip Flappers, we appreciated the great amount of attention and work put into making each action sequence and scene flow effortlessly with utterly beautiful animation. Give Mob a shot and fall for Reigen, our favorite character by the end.
Watch It If… You want even MORE sakuga.
We’ll admit it: our opinion of of Re:Zero has gone down since it finished. Admittedly, the series peaked midway through (episode 15 specifically when we made our original post…) and while it had a decent finish, we were a bit disappointed with how it ended and the final 2 or so arcs.
That said, the show has been one of the biggest hits this year and had plenty of
memeworthy memorable moments (Who’s Rem? I love Emilia, etc.) An isekai with potential that it reached for but didn’t quite make it.
Watch It If… You like the isekai genre, Enjoy rooting for/against whiny protagonists
The consensus opinion on ERASED, might have diminished as the year went by, being one of the popular shows that came out early in the year and almost became “cool to hate”, after re watching it, we have to say ERASED is good. We swear. It’s not a masterpiece no. Yes the manga might have been better with components being cut from the anime, but still. At the very least everyone should give ERASED a shot if they haven’t already and come up with their own conclusion.
Watch It If…. Just watch it okay?
